In Astrology, we each have our very own Resurrection Day.
No, it’s not our Birthday, but similar! It’s actually our re-birth day, when the Sun passes over the line in our natal chart that marks the beginning of our 1st house (see image below).
Imagine the Sun shining its bright rays on the beautiful seedlings that you have planted, which are now ready to grow?
So, on this day each year (for me it’s June 11th) is THE DAY that my unique growth cycle begins, and it’s important to honor it and make it sacred.
Symbolically, it also represents endings and beginnings, as the Sun actually leaves the last degree of my 12th house (the past/darkness) to cross over into the first degree of my 1st house to begin a new cycle (future/light).
As an Astrologer, before conducting ritual, and especially on a special day like this one (also the Full Moon!), I like to pay special attention to my Natal Chart and paint the full picture. There is always a story!
It just so happens that my chart is activated quite a bit, giving me direction on what this day actually means for me, and what my growth homework will be as the Sun begins it’s trek around my chart.
The Planning
Warning: A little bit of “astro” talk below! Don’t worry, I’ll summarize it nicely for those of you who may read this and say, “what???”. 😂
As you can see in this image just above, the Sun ☉ is barely 1 degree off my Ascendant (AC) in the sign of Gemini ♊, representing my Resurrection Day. What the sign Gemini signifies is an obvious theme to play with on this day and to investigate within myself and my growth, as a part of my ritual.
You may also notice that the planet of Uranus ♅ is just 2 degrees away from my natal Saturn ♄ —also in Gemini, bringing a flavor of change, newness, freedom, and commitment to my deeply spiritual Gemini leanings.
This aspect intuitively wants me to ask, “What am I not seeing, avoiding, or afraid of communicating or creating with responsibility and discipline?” This aspect also activates a mini “Kite” in my chart (where I can take off and fly!) connecting to my North Node ☊ (destiny) and Mercury ☿️ (mind/communication).
A few other aspects I payed attention to as I planned were:
The Full Moon took place right on my AC and DC points—asking me to consider the balance of my focus on ME -vs- relationships/partnerships.
Saturn and Neptune were both right on top of my natal Mercury in my Career house (and directly opposing Pluto in my house of Home)—wanting me to balance growth and changes between career and home.
Pluto was right on top of my North Node (destiny marker)—asking me to continue taking intentional leaps toward my truth and purpose.
So, with this I had a bit of direction guiding me for my Resurrection Day Ritual.
The Ritual
Before sharing how I ritualized this special day, I want to express how important it is for me to make ritual very accessible, flexible, intuitive, and easy. I run my own business, and the majority of my clients also are leaders and entrepreneurs with busy lives.
Sometimes we can separate quiet, focused time for a dedicated ritual (which I do often), and other times, we may need to sprinkle the ritual into our day.
It just so happened that this day coincided with a workshop I was teaching, and several client sessions, so I decided that I would fit in my ritual in between my work and family time.
Here’s what I did.
☀️ Part 1 - Welcome in the Sun
As I was arriving to my workshop early yesterday morning, I took a few moments to close my eyes, get grounded, and recite a prayer that connected me to All That Is:
The Light of God Surrounds Me.
The Love of God Enfolds Me.
The Power of God Protects Me.
The Spirit of God Watches over me and Guides Me.
Wherever I AM God IS.
The Sun, to me, has always represented the energy of God, and so I imagined the Sun’s rays infusing me as I recited my prayer.
Then, as I began to walk toward my class, it just so happened that Sun was out, brightly, and so I took a few moments to gently gaze into the Sun, feel the warmth of the rays on me, and gave it gratitude for my new beginning.
🕯️ 📒 Part 2 - Exploration
The Sun represents the element of Fire and the expressiveness of Leo, and the many aspects in my chart are having me brainstorm and make some decisions around my self-expression, ideas to cultivate, how I wish to communicate and share wisdom, and how I will be responsible to my deep, spiritually-guided purpose. My chart is also asking me to find the balance between independence and partnership, and career and home priorities.
I lit a candle, took pen to paper and started my exploration!
🧘🏼♀️ Part 3 - Integration
This ritual is meant to be a Quiet Celebration—a time to sit alone and connect with myself—taking time to honor my deep emotions. This day still carried aspects of the 12th house, where our deepest emotions and visions lie. It is a transitory day as the Sun moved over my AC and into the 1st house.
And, because on this day it also was the Full Moon in Sagittarius, it was important for me to RELEASE before I PLANTED. So I sat in meditation, asking,
“Where have my thoughts/emotions been guiding me while in the 12th house? What is fear and what is truth? What will I release so I can call in my new seeds?”
After releasing, I silently whispered my intentions to the Universe.
🔮 🌻 Part 4 - Altar Dedication
To wrap things up, before bedtime I wrote each intention and placed each on my altar along with a sunflower seed and bee pollen to represent growth.
This was a graceful and flexible day of ritual, sprinkled into my day.
I hope that it inspires you to identify days that are meaningful for you, and to ritualize your life a bit more.
This is the invitation.
