When the World Feels Chaotic, Make Home Your Anchor
Your nervous system is craving meaning—and your home can help you reclaim it.
In my podcast last week I shared some statistics that help us to open our eyes to how we may be feeling in the workplace and in life, and a few simple shifts we can make. You can tune in here.
One of the tips I shared is to make our life feel more sacred and meaningful, and one of the ways I do this very consciously, especially as a Feng Shui professional, is to hone in on my home.
Let’s dive in a bit more today, shall we?
Ritual and Reflection follow below. ❤️
We’re all living through a level of global chaos that can feel unrelenting, and sometimes that chaos sneaks into our personal and professional lives and amplifies it.
Whether it’s collective grief, news-cycle whiplash, or personal uncertainty—there’s a slow, quiet toll being taken on our bodies and souls. It can leave even the most grounded among us feeling unmoored or disconnected.
But here’s the beautiful truth:
You don’t have to escape to a retreat, buy another self-help book, or uproot your entire life to find your footing. You just need to start where you are. With what you have. With what surrounds you.
Because your home isn’t just your shelter. It’s your mirror. It’s your medicine. And it can be your anchor.
🌀 From Chaos to Cocoon: How My Space Anchored Me
Back in March 2020, I was going through one of the most difficult changes of my life.
Part of that change was a quick and forced move that landed during the exact week the pandemic shut the world down. I could never have seen this coming.
What was already a highly emotional time suddenly became even more intense—filled with fear, uncertainty, and isolation. What I didn’t know then was that I was entering what I call a Cocoon Season—a powerful Earth-aligned chapter in my Flow that invites quiet, protection, and deep restoration.
“Though I felt like I was falling apart, my small, simple space became a womb—a sacred container that allowed me to rest, heal, and slowly reimagine the life I wanted to emerge into.”
During this time, by both reminding myself about this energy that was guiding me very purposefully, and trusting the timing of my life, I was able to LEAN INTO MY HOME to help cocoon me, regulate energy and live more intentionally as I slowly weaved through this massive transition.
When we are in an Earth-aligned season—like Planting Seeds, Hurricane, or Cocoon—our spaces matter more than ever (especially our homes). These seasons call for groundedness, softness, and sacred simplicity.
That’s when it’s time to bring in the Earth element:
Weighted blankets
Clay and rocks
Plants
Cozy corners
Stillness
Slowness
Safety
Family
Nourishment 🍲
Because when the world is spinning, Earth steadies us.
✨ Side Note ✨
When we know with what energy we’re flowing in any given year, we can not only work with that energy in our physical spaces, but as leaders of our lives, we can align with the energy and element through our mindset, personal and work habits, and actions we take intentionally for the outcomes we desire in all areas of our lives. Send me a message if you’d like to tune into this for yourself. 🙏
Micro-Ritual: Create an Anchor Spot in your Home
A daily place to reset and return to yourself—especially when the world feels like too much. You don’t have to be in your Cocoon year to do this! “-)
Choose a small space—a chair, a table, a corner.
Clear it. Clean it. Bless it.
Add 1 item that grounds you (a candle, a photo, a crystal, a quote).
Add 1 item that inspires you (a book, a flower, a symbol of your dreams).
Each day, return here—even for 3 minutes. Tune in. Breathe. Hold space for you.
Let this spot remind you: You are held. You are whole. You are home.
