The Sacred Shift: Walking Into Peace at 5:55
Permission to change what works—because your peace might be waiting somewhere new.
Even though I’m flexible throughout my day, I’ve become a stickler with my morning routine. It anchors me. It reminds me—daily—that I matter first. And for that reason, I rarely shift it.
My mornings typically look like this:
Wake at 5:30 am and meditate until 6
Make the bed, feed the dog
15–30 minutes of self-care (red light therapy or fascia massage)
30 minutes of yoga and strength work
45-minute walk with Ocean, my pup
However, now that summer in Miami is in full swing, the sun is rising earlier—and hotter. So I made a small change: I started walking Ocean earlier, around 6:30 am, to catch the cooler air and quieter streets. It was a welcomed shift.
But, then…
Although it wasn’t a major adjustment, something unexpected happened with the next small shift just a few weeks later.
The World at 5:55
And the divine nudge of 555
On one particular morning, I had to be out the door by 6:20 am. So I did the thing I’ve long resisted:
I set my alarm for 5:00 am.
I’ve told myself for years that 5:00 am is too early—that it would rob me of sleep, energy, and sanity. But on this morning, something shifted.
Here’s what I did:
5:00 am wake-up
Self-care until 5:30 am
Out the door at 5:55 am for our walk
That moment—5:55 am—felt like more than just a time stamp.
I don’t believe in coincidences. I believe in callings.
In numerology, 555 is a sacred number that symbolizes transformation, freedom, and divine encouragement. It’s the universal signal that a shift is unfolding—and it’s exactly what your soul is ready for.
“555 is the whisper of the universe saying, ‘This change is sacred. Keep going.’”
So when I saw the clock, I smiled.
The message was clear: Walk this new way.
And I did.
At 5:55, the streets were hushed, the sky just beginning to blush. The air cooler. The world, motionless but alive. There was a symphony in the air—nature’s invitation to presence.
And I received it fully.
“The yearning you speak of is the universal yearning for what is good, beautiful, and true. We exist in this world and ache for this truth, for this beauty, in its seeming absence.”
— Nick Cave, The Red Hand Files
That morning, I found that beauty.
And I realized how much I had unknowingly been aching for it.
Here’s part of that symphony I heard on our walk. Enjoy the listen

The Smallest Shifts Can Lead to the Biggest Openings
That simple change gave me more peace. More presence. More joy.
And it reminded me of something I often teach:
“Giving ourselves permission to change our habits, routines, and especially our assumptions and definitions about how success is achieved, is one of the best gifts we can give ourselves as busy mission-driven leaders who deserve to feel healthy, peaceful, and fulfilled.”
— Monique Renée
Most of my clients are high-achieving, visionary leaders who are craving more space and softness—but believe that success demands rigidity, sacrifice, and consistency.
But what if we’ve been wrong about that?
Quieting the Resistance
Even now, I feel the pull of both voices:
The voice that urges me to stay with the familiar routine that “works”.
And the voice that whispers: there’s more ease, more grace, more presence waiting if you’re willing to shift again.
Here’s what the new rhythm would look like:
5:00 am wake-up
Meditate until 5:30
15 minutes of self care
5:55 am walk with Ocean
30 minutes of yoga or strength
Ready by 8:00 am for a focused, aligned day
Writing this excites me.
It also makes me want to crawl back into bed. 😫
But I know better. I know that resistance is often the signpost of growth.
A Soul Nudge for You
Sometimes the smallest pivot—a 30-minute shift, a change in order, a different question—can open a portal into a more peaceful, joy-filled life.
I’m heading into vacation soon, so I’ll give myself a gentle runway into this new rhythm. But I’ll report back on what it teaches me. I have a feeling it’s going to be meaningful.
In the meantime, I leave you with this:
When was the last time you gave yourself permission to shift something small… and discovered something big?
