Clearing Your Spaces & Setting Sacred Space

From My Lil' Apothecary 🌿

As a practicing Feng Shui consultant and Shamanic Energy Medicine Practitioner, ensuring my spaces and my personal energy is clear and connected is a priority.

There are so many ways to clear energy within and around us, and they each have their strengths. When I clear a space, I use a very specific method that was passed down to me from the particular lineage of Feng Shui in which I was trained. It’s my go-to method. And, depending upon what I feel and receive while in each space, I may add additional steps or use other tools.

But for everyday ritual, ceremony and energy clearing, I primarily use Sage and Florida Water. In this post I’m sharing how I made my own Florida Water and how I use it.

Make it your own!

One of the best ways to make a potent Florida Water is create an intention for its use. Is it for healing? For detoxification? For peace and harmony? To remove stagnant energies?

The intention for this current batch was to create a sacred space—clear, peaceful and protected—for ritual, ceremony and healings, so I chose ingredients known for these purposes. I use it to call in the Four Directions, and I spray my surroundings before and after sessions.

I also love spritzing my energy field and my home when I want it to feel lighter and more clear, and taking some to go to “fluff up” my aura before and after meetings or gatherings.

I truly believe that the energy we bring into spaces is our responsibility!

Other ways to use it:

  • Mixing it with herbs/flowers and using in your baths

  • Adding it to your bucket of warm water for cleaning your home (and it’s natural!)

  • As cologne (I love using it this way!)

  • Anointing areas of your home

  • As an offering to your ancestors

Use what you grow!

As with most apothecary recipes, it’s always best to use what you grow. I have visions of one day being able to have an environment where I can grow most of what I use, but since that’s not the case for me at this time, I purchased organic dried herbs and clean, pure oils.

For this recipe I also used Holy Water that I collected at the Fatima Sanctuary in Portugal. It provided deeper meaning and support for me—a sacred representation of the Divine Feminine.

Again…the potency is magnified by meaning and intention!

The Recipe

You’ll see in the video above that I don’t measure! I just use my intuition for what is needed and add more if necessary.

Before you proceed, consider creating your Florida Water on a New Moon with your clear intention, and letting it steep on your altar until the Full Moon, and create Sacred Space before beginning.

You’ll need the following (Feel free to substitute to your heart’s content! Make it yours.):

  • A large jar

  • Large Amber glass bottle with a lid or spray pump

  • Vodka or Rum (I used Vodka this go around)

  • Rose Petals

  • Rosemary

  • Cloves

  • Lavender Flowers

  • Cinnamon Sticks

  • Essential Oils: Frankincense, Wild Orange, Melaleuca (Tea Tree), Bay Leaf

Once you’ve collected all of your ingredients, simply begin to add them intentionally to the jar, and then pour over them the spirit/alcohol you’ve selected. Give it a sniff and add more herbs/flowers/oils until it smells just right to your heart and soul.

Cover the jar and place it on your altar with intention.

Give it a whirl every day or so, continuing to share your intention with it, mindfully.

On the Full Moon (or any other day that feels aligned for you—I chose Venus sextile Jupiter!) you can strain it and pour it into it’s proper home.

Label it lovingly and add the date of its emergence.

Enjoy!

P.S. Interestingly enough, Florida Water got its name after the mythical Fountain of Youth, believed to be in Florida, and also references the "floral" nature of the scent.

I’d LOVE to hear your thoughts! Plan to create your own? Let me know in the comments.

Love and Light, Friends!

Until next time,

Monique
