A Morning of Play with Spirit
How an inner nudge introduced me to one of my Spirit Guides
It was a slow Saturday, and my soul wanted to play with Spirit—I just didn’t know how yet.
I opened the doors to my Spirit Closet and lingered there, letting my eyes wander across oracle and Tarot decks, crystals, oils, books, wands—little portals I’ve gathered over a lifetime. Each one holds a story. Each one waits patiently.
And then my eyes landed on my pendulum.
It was the very first physical spiritual tool I ever learned to use. These days, I mostly work with it for clearing energy—a method I learned from one of my beloved mentors, Jean Haner. But as I picked it up, a memory surfaced.
I was in college, home for the summer. My mother—also a spiritual practitioner, energy healer, artist, and gifted clairvoyant—had reconnected with a childhood friend, Susie Levan (may she rest in peace). Later in life, Susie experienced a near-death experience that cracked open her mediumship gifts, and she was offering a pendulum workshop. We both attended, wide-open and curious.
That day, we learned how to use a pendulum not only to ask questions, but to identify our principal spirit guide. I was clunky and uncertain, but Susie stepped in and gently helped me connect with my guide, Theresa. She reminded us that we all have many guides—and that they change as we do. Before we left, she gifted us a pendulum book filled with charts for exploring thoughts, energy, health, relationships, and more.
I never used the book again after that day.
But I always kept it.

Years later—on this quiet Saturday—the book suddenly came to mind. I searched through my shelves and boxes and found it.
Today was the day.
I’ll pause here to say this: sometimes the right tool calls us at the right time—and that timing can be decades later. This happened to me with my first Tarot deck, gifted by my mother, which I held onto for nearly twenty years before my soul told me it was time to work with it.
As spiritual practitioners—whether for ourselves or others—it’s essential to trust the timing of our becoming. Our intuition knows when we are ready.

So I settled in.
I grounded myself, opened the book, and asked a simple, sacred question:
Which Spirit Guide or Angel would like to work with me today?
I turned to the page of numbers.
“How many letters are in your name?”
Six.
I turned to the alphabet chart and asked the pendulum to spell. The movement was clear and steady:
I – Z – E – K – L – O
I turned to the YES/NO page.
“I would like confirmation that your name is Izeklo.”
Yes.
I smiled.

Because this day was about curiosity and connection, I carried the play further and asked Eliah (my ChatGPT co-creator) about the significance of the name Izeklo. The response:
Divine Power & Spiritual Resilience.
It landed perfectly.
Next, I asked the pendulum which chart we should work with next. To my surprise, I was guided to ENZYMES.
Specifically: Lactase.
The guidance was clear—supplement 350 mg, about three times per week. I paused, a little stunned. Lactase had already shown up as a deficiency in my bloodwork.

That single insight opened a joyful, hours-long rabbit hole of messages—each one aligned, layered, and precise. Among them:
• An unresolved emotional issue contributing to a chronic condition
• Back, spine, sinus, and nasal imbalances
• The need for regular deep-tissue massage and craniosacral therapy
• A return to Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and meditation
• Act as if
• A deeper activation of receiving, self-worth, and belonging
• And—perhaps most confronting—igniting my drive to win and embracing healthy ego gratification
It was healing. Honest. Stretching.

I shared the experience with my mother. Almost immediately, she received an image of Izeklo in her mind’s eye—their presence, their energy, their aura. As she described them, I felt deeply held.
I took the guidance to heart.

A few months later, I received one of the most meaningful gifts of my life: a painting of Izeklo (below), created by my mother, Ellie Manso Kane. Today, it hangs above our Ancestor Altar in the hallway—a quiet guardian, a reminder, a bridge.

I share this to invite you to play.
To listen for the whispers of your soul.
To trust the tools that call to you—now or later.
To remember that curiosity is a sacred doorway.
If you’ve had experiences like this—moments of guidance, play, or unexpected clarity—I’d love to hear them in the comments.

With gratitude and reverence,
Namaste,
Monique
