A Love Story with My Home (And a Tree Named Daisy Duke)
I've been musing a lot lately about home—how it holds mystery, magic, and medicine.
Why? Well… probably because I’m only six months into this new space with my partner of 22 months.
Probably because I’m building a new spiritual coaching container—with the magic of the home at its center. (✨ Join the waitlist here! ✨)
And definitely because I’m a devoted lover of Feng Shui. It’s not just a tool—it’s a daily rhythm, a living language that I use to support my clients and shape the spaces around me.
It's all these little sacred reasons… and more.
The Neighborhood That Talks Back
I’m learning to build a relationship with this cozy little place.
It’s a neighborhood that sometimes whispers to me with encouragement, like when I see a flock of birds soaring overhead or ducks in trees. I swear I hear them saying:
"Go fly!"
And other times?
Well, let’s just say the biting dogs and hissing cats make me feel like I’m being chased off the block. 😅
But that’s the dance of change, right?
It’s chaotic and beautiful.
It’s the intersection of something old and something new.
It begs the question:
Will I let fear and fangs drive me away from my potential, or will I stay and pour love into this place—trusting that it will love me right back?
I’m choosing the latter. 💫
A Library Card and a Backyard Dream
This week, my daughter and I felt pulled to build a relationship with our local library.
It’s so darn cute—and walking in, I felt like I stepped into the next chapter of my flow journey.
That little card represents so much:
The flow-based life I’ve created and now guide others into.
The sense of wonder that moves through me every day.
The endless inspiration I find in books—and how I alchemize that wisdom into rituals, stories, and healing.
Naturally, the first aisle I wandered toward was full of books about the home.
No coincidences, of course. Only magic.
I walked out with books that are now inspiring our backyard haven—a space for:
Mindful breaks and client calls under the sun,
Sunset soundscapes and feathered friend visits,
Games, meals, and rituals with family and friends,
And soon… medicine making and magical play with my coven. 🌿🕯️
The Tree That Found Us
My “Boo”, a school teacher, has spent his summer pouring love into the outside of our home. He's built the foundation of our sacred backyard retreat. It’s his love language—and I’m receiving it, fully.
We did have a tiny debate over the right-most corner of the garden.
That space, according to Feng Shui, is the Relationship/Marriage Corner.
And I knew in my soul what tree needed to be there: a pink Frangipani (also known as Plumeria). 🌸
I stayed consistent. I kept saying:
“She’s calling me. She belongs here.”
Eventually, he gave in.
And the sweetest thing? He found her.
Not just any tree—our tree.
And her name came to me right away:
Daisy Duke.
(Not kidding! She insisted. My daughter promptly pointed out that she’s not a daisy, but what can you do? Her spirit is strong—and apparently, she’s from Texas, just like her previous owners!)
A Not-So-Simple Pickup
Getting Daisy Duke home was an adventure in itself:
We borrowed a truck with very questionable tires.
She was loose in the dirt, tall and unstable.
It was 95+ degrees, cloudless and sweltering.
Every time we tried to drive, she started to tip over.
We nearly lost her three times on the highway.
It was stressful. It was hilarious.
And it was an exercise in trust.
Eventually, we laid her down carefully. We strapped her in the best we could, whispered prayers, and called in our Angels.
I asked them to ride with us, protect Daisy’s fragile branches, and guide us home safely.
And they did.
Whether whole or in pieces, we knew she was ours.
And she made it—whole and glorious.
Where Love is Planted, Magic Grows
We’re still tidying up the area leading to and around Daisy, but already… it’s night and day. ✨
Here’s are before and after shots:
Up next?
We’ll be breathing life into the Wealth & Prosperity Corner of our yard.
The vision is clear. The joy is palpable. The energy is already shifting.
And that’s what this journey has reminded me of:
Your home is not just a container for your life.
It’s a partner in your healing, your dreaming, your expansion.
Coming Full Circle
I hope this little love story between me, Daisy Duke, and our growing sanctuary inspires something in you.
Maybe it nudges you to plant something new.
Or to see your home with fresh eyes.
Or even to visit your local library and check out a book or two. 📚
You see, my own spiritual awakening began in a library—when I was just a little girl, pulled toward the mysteries that now shape my life and my work.
And so this week was a full circle moment for me. 🌀
May you find beauty, magic, and flow in all the corners of your home.
And may she return your love tenfold.
With Light and Lavender,
Monique
